I live in Jhb in the Northern suburbs. I have a refractive telescope that I want to sell as soon as I can. It is about 55+ years old, made by W Ottway Co Ltd Ealing London. It is in a fitted wooden case. There is a wooden tripod about 5 foot long with a cast iron shaped U-support that swivels and brass screws to secure the instrument when viewing (the screws need some attention). There used to be a chain connecting the legs but this has broken off and needs replacing. The telescope is about 34 1/2 inches (almost a meter) long, 3 inch objective, a Huyghenian EF 14 mm eye piece, if I remember correctly it has a magnification of about 70X. There is also a sun filter that scews onto the eye piece. It has a fine adjusting brass wheel and a "coarse" pullout eye piece. It is in a good condition and has not been used much by myself. I have no idea what price to set, so make me a good offer. ??R1000.00
